Birth

Amasa Davis, son of Joshua and Hannah Davis, born 17 April 1744 in Woodstock, Windham, Connecticut. [1]

Marriage

Amasa Davis married Mrs. Sarah Whitney in Brookline, Massachusetts, on 13 November 1764. "Both of Brookline" as sourced in the NEHGS. [2]

Military

Amasa Davis, born 17 August 1744 in Weston, Massachusetts, died 30 January 1825 in Boston, Massachusetts, and his wife Sarah Whitney, born 1746 in Weston, Massachusetts, are honored by the Daughters of the American Revolution for service: Patriotic Service and quartermaster. [3]Although there is no proof, he allededly participated in the Boston Tea Party and his brother Major Robert Davis did as well.[4]

Capt. Amasa Davis was Quartermaster General of Massachusetts from 9 Jan 1787, for 35 years.

Death

Amasa Davis, died January 1825 in Boston, Massachusetts.[6]He was buried in Tomb 120 at the Central Burying Ground. His will was probated in Boston on February 7, 1825. He had been a very successful Bostonian businessman and landholder. The inventory indicates his land holdings alone were valued at $45,000 in 1825.[4]
