Joan Brophy, 88, passed away on Friday, September 24 at home in Irvington, NY. She was born on May 30, 1922 to James and Julia Brophy and was raised in Haverstraw, NY. Joan worked at ER Squibb and Son for many years in Brooklyn, NY, as a Lab Researcher. She retired in 1981 from Squibb's in New Jersey, and moved to Beacon, NY to live with her sister, Mae Cahill. As a retiree she lived an active life she loved to bowl, travel and paint. She was also very active in St. John's Parish. Joan moved to Irvington, NY to live with her niece, Tara (McCann) and her family. She became very active in the Seniors and loved the knitting club. She is survived by nieces, nephews, and several grand nieces and grand nephews. Friends may call at the Higgins Funeral Home at 73 North Liberty Drive (Route 9W) in Stony Point on Sunday, September 26 between 2-4 PM and 7-9 PM. Mass at St Peter's Church in Haverstraw, NY will be Monday, September 27 at 10 AM. Interment at Saint Peter's Cemetery. MICHAEL J.
