Research Notes A genealogical history of the Jennings Families in England and America : In three volumes - Vol 1 -

This family of Jennings claimed to be descended from Humphrey Jennings, the great Ironmaster of Birmingham who died in 1690 and claimed to be entitled to proper left by William Jennings of Acton Place.

They say they are descended from John Jennings who was the grandson of Humphrey, and the son of John. John Jennings with Ann his wife (then pregnant) and their children Elizabeth (then ten years old), Luke and John and perhaps Grace and Dolly, with a nurse called Marjory embarked from Whitehaven, England for America, and landed about the 1st of December 1754 at Fredericksburg, VA.

Thomas, their eldest son and next child to Elizabeth, was left behind with a rich uncle supposed to be named Cenors, Cenos or Zenos. This family became very numerous in Virginia and their descendants are among the most noted families in the Old Dominion.

Research Notes

Unfortunately the FAG entry is unsourced and so one should be skeptical of the dates of birth/death (in particular the claim that he was 105 years old at his passing). If anyone has solid documentation, please add it.
