Elwilda Staples, daughter of Ebenezer Myric Staples and Elizabeth A. Staples, was born on 28 June 1854 in Swan's Island, Hancock County, Maine, USA. She died on 1 August 1931 at the age of 77 in Swan's Island, Hancock County, Maine, USA. She was buried in Rose Hill cemetery, Atlantic. Isaiah J. Stockbridge and Elvida Staples obtained a marriage license on 7 June 1873 in Swan's Island, Hancock County, Maine, USA. They were married on 15 October 1873 in Swan's Island, Hancock County, Maine, by Cornelius Wasgatt.

In 1930 she was widowed and living with son Earl Raymond and his wife in Portland, Maine.
