Dorothea was born in 1780 in Plymouth, Devon, England and christened at the church of Charles the Martyr, Plymouth on 10 February 1780. She was the daughter of Captain James Hawker and Dorothea Nicholls.
Dorothea married physician William Knighton on 2 August 1800 at Charles the Martyr, Plymouth, Devon[1]
William Knighton would later become surgeon to King George IV. Dorothea, an accomplished artist, compiled and published her husband's memoir after his death.
She passed away in 1836.
