Biography

Rosella was born in 1839. She passed away in 1924.

Rosella A Wing was born on November 26, 1839 in Maine,^[1] to Henry Wing (1806-1850) and Louisa Allen (1813-1860). At age 11, she was in her parent's home in Mercer County, Illinois.^[2]

She married Ezra Finley Strickland (1836-1866) on April 17, 1855 in Mercer County, Illinois.^[3] They had 5 children.

1. Alvin Nutan Strickland (1856-1934)
2. William Wallace Armstrong Strickland (1858-1912)
3. Finley Arlington Strickland (1860-1914) m. Effie Artz. 1880^[4]
4. Ezra Sanford Strickland (1862-1939)^[5]
5. Eva Louisa Strickland (1867-1956)

They made their home in Mercer County, Illinois in 1860, where Ezra worked as a Laborer, and Rosella was taking care of the home and children, Alvin-3, and William-2.^[6]

Her husband Ezra passed away in the latter part of 1866 in Mercer County, Illinois, at the age of 29. They had been married 11 years.

She remarried Robert J Culick on August 31, 1869 in Muscatine, Muscatine County, Iowa. They had 2 children.

Rosella was living in Eliza, Mercer County, Illinois in 1870, where she was farming and taking care of the family, Her children by her prievious marriage, Alvin-14, William-12, Finley-9, and Eva Louisa-3, and Robert's and her daughter Melissa Culick-1.^[7] In 1880, she was working as a Carpet Weaver, along with taking care of the home and children, Stanford Strickland-17, who was a Farm Laborer, Eve Strickland-13, and Nancy Culick-9.^[8]

Her husband Robert passed away ca 1900 in Eliza, Mercer County, Illinois.

She lived by her self at age 60 in Eliza, Mercer County, Illinois, where she was a Carpet Weaver.^[9] She had 7 children, with 6 living in 1900.

At age 80, and widowed, she was living with her daughter Eva and son-in-law, J D O'dell in Millersburg Mercer county, Illinois.^[10]

She died December 25, 1924, at the age of 85 in Davenport, Scott County, Iowa.^[11] She was buried in the Duncan Cemetery. in Mercer County, Illinois.^[1]
