Biography

Katie (Brethauer) Flot was a Volga German.

Katherine "Katie" Bretthauer (Brethauer) was born on 29 Jan 1893 in Hoffental, Volga, Russia to Carl Brethauer and Maria Katrina Neubauer.

At age 14, she sailed with her father, siblings, and grandparents to America. They departed Libau via S.S. Smolensk on 30 Sep 1907 and arrived on 18 Oct 1907 to Ellis Island in New York, New York.^[1][2]

Katie married Henry Flot on 15 Aug 1910 in Greeley, Colorado.^[3] They had five children. They farmed in Kersey until Henry retired in 1944.^[4][5] Henry and Katie moved to Greeley. They were members of St. Paul's Congregational Church in Greeley.

She passed away at age 78 from a heart attack while in her home in Greeley on 29 Mar 1971. Katie Flot was buried on 31 Mar 1971 in Linn Grove Cemetery in Greeley, Colorado.^[6]
