Biography

Lucy Ann Beachum/Beauchamp was a daughter of William Beachum (c.1795-1850s) and his wife Cynthia Edwards (c.1787/90-1860s).^[1]

Her name was probably Lucinda, but she seems always to have gone by Lucy Ann. Her family came from Anson County, North Carolina to Henderson County, Tennessee when she was a small child.

Lucy Ann married Ephraim Henry Austin (1820-1888) in Marshall County, Mississippi in 1844, but they seem soon to have come back to Henderson Co., Tennessee. Ephraim was a prosperous merchant and land owner. Both Ephraim and his eldest son, John James, served in the Confederate army.

The children of Lucy Ann and Ephraim were: John James Austin (1845-1917), Cynthia H. E. Austin (c. 1847), Margaret Mahalia Austin (1849-1923), Phoebe Ellen Austin (1851-1934), Dr. Alfred Franklin Austin (1853-1942), Eliza A. J. Austin (c. 1856), William C. Austin (c. 1858), Henry W. Austin (c. 1861), Lucinda A. Austin (c. 1865), and Robert Austin (c. 1871). I am still researching them.
