Biography

Tosten Vigolfsson's ancestry is unknown, exept he says be a brother of Håkan, who was a canon (Kanik) in Linköping, who died earliest in 1295. (Which must not be confused with the later Torstens son Håkan, who was a canon in Linköping (in Västre Götaland), and a church priest in Sandsjö (in Småland). Torsten Vigolfsson is mentioned at the first time in 1292, as Torsten Vigolfsson of Villstorp, in Forserum parich, (Småland), which he exchanged 1292 for Fallnafors in Malmbäck parich, (Småland). He was married to the widow (after Abjörn Unknown Sparre) Lucia Matsdotter (Older Oxenstierna), and they become the first ancestors of the younger family Oxenstierna. In 1307 Torsten sealed his wife's uncle Gjurd Nilsson's letter. The last time he is mentioned is in 1319 when he seals a mortgage letter to Eskild Nilsson (vapon 2 Varghuvud on snedbjälke) together with Johan Sonasson (3 lilies in a triangel), as was married to Tostens stepdaughter Margareta Abjörnsdotter. Tosten Vigolfsson and Lucia Matsdotter had 5 children together:

1. Ingeborg Tostensdotter Oxenstierna, who became a nun in Gudhem's monastery.

Torsten Vigolfsson had in his coat of arms a split shield, with in the upper field two step-cut squares , and a falling shafted leaf, with the point downwards in the lower field. Hes seat was Fallnafors in Malmbäck parish in Småland, and he was buried in Malmbäck's church, enligt his son Håkan's will1369.
