Born about 1565, William Jephson was son of William Jephson of Froyle in Hampshire, and his wife, Mary Dannett. He was educated at Peterhouse, Cambridge before travelling abroad. [1]
William married Frances Garroway, daughter of Sir John Garroway of Acton in Middlesex. [1] They had no children. [1]
He was knighted at Dublin Castle by Sir George Cary, Lord Deputy of Ireland, on the 18th of December 1603. [2]
In 1604 he was returned to the first Parliament of James I as member for Hampshire. [3] By the time the next Parliament was called in 1614 he was too frail to stand. [1]
William died on the 16th of November 1615. [1]
A search of the University of Cambridge database does not find an entry for this William Jephson. [4]
The name Sarway for his wife appears to be mistaken.
