Biography

At the time of the 1870 census, Bruce was a young boy of 4 living in Brown, Mifflin County, PA.

By the 1880 census, Bruce was 14, living alone with his father.

In 1894, Bruce married Rhoda K. Bowers.

By the 1900 census, his father was living with Bruce and his wife Rhoda, and daughter Hattie. Robert was 68, a widower. Bruce worked as a pattern roller at the Ax Works.

In the 1910 census, Bruce and Rhoda appear with daughter Hattie, 10, and Dorothy, 6. They are living in Derry and Bruce is working as a laborer in the Hat House.

In the 1920 census, they are living in Derry, Mifflin Co, PA. Bruce works as a stocker in the silk mill, while daughter Dorothy works as a knitter there.

In the 1930 census, Bruce and Rhoda have their grandson, Bruce E, 8, living with them. Bruce is still working, as a laborer in a silk mill.

Bruce McElroy was about 80 years old when he died. He and his wife Rhoda are buried in Lawver's United Methodist Cemetery, Decatur, Mifflin County, Pennsylvania, USA.
