Biography

Ruth M. Griffith was born in 1910 in Concord, Erie, New York. She is the daughter of James Griffith and Jessie Hennesen.

Ruth married Ross Smith, son of Grace and Allan Smith of Concord, Erie, New York. In 1930, Ruth and Ross lived with her mother, Jessie Griffith, on Waverly Street in Springville. Both she and her mother worked as riveters for the local knife works. Included in the household were her father's niece, Jennie Fisk and son, Harold Fisk. ^[1]

In 1940, Ruth and Ross lived in the same house on Waverly Street in Springville, Erie, New York with their two young children. Ruth was employed by a knife manufacturer and Ross worked on county roads. ^[2]

Ruth married Neal Franz after her husband, Ross, died in 1955.

Ruth died on November 2, 1977 in Chaffee, Erie, New York and was buried in Maplewood Cemetery, Springville, Erie, New York. ^[3]
