Biography

Robert Wellington Philo was born on 7 Mar 1926 in Tunkhannock, Wyoming, Pennsylvania. He served in the U. S. Navy as a Sonarman Third Class during World War II and was in foreign service from 20 Jan 1945 to 19 Dec 1945. Prior to his discharge from military service, Robert earned a private pilot aircraft license and bought a used PT-19 trainer. He was forced to sell it when the finance company would not allow him to keep the plane and transfer it to the East Coast. Bob once flew Sally Rand, the burlesque dancer, from Key West to Miami, Florida when her normal transportation broke down and she had a show to do. He died on 25 Aug 1949 in Norway.
