Biography

Melinda Knight was born at Plantation No. 5 [now Calais], Maine, 31 Jan 1805, the daughter of Paul Atkins Knight and Hannah Whitney; ^[1] m at Calais, 27 Sep 1827, as his first wife, Josiah Hume, ^[2] b c1796 [calculated from reported age at death]; d at Perry, Iowa, 12 Feb 1872, age 75. ^[3] Melinda apparently d before 29 Aug 1837, when Josiah filed marriage intentions at Calais with Rebecca Stockwell. ^[4]
