Biography

Col. Harry Weissinger was born in 1842 on the family farm, which later became Central Park, in Louisville, KY.[1] He made his fortune through his company Harry W. Weissinger Tobacco Co. He passed away in 1915.[2][3][4]

Family

Harry was the son of George Weissinger (Journalist and co-owner of the Louisville Journal)[1][2] and Amanthus Bullitt. [1][3][4]

Military

The Civil War broke out when Harry was 18 and he enlisted with the Confederate Army under Gen. John Hunt Morgan's command.[1][2][3]

Marriage

June 27, 1867 married Belle Muir[1][3]

Children

Two sons: Muir and Phillip[1][2][3]
Three daughters: Mrs. Stanton Tiffany, Mrs. S.T. Castleman, and Mrs. Julius Manger.[1][2][3]
One daughter preceded him in death.[5]

Death

Death occurred at 10:15 pm on May 9, 1915, at his residence, 1162 South Fourth Street, Louisville, KY.[3][4]

Burial

Buried in Cave Hill Cemetery.[2][4]
