Thomas was born about 1669. He was the son of Roger Twysden and Margaret Marsham. His father became an MP and later succeeded as baronet.
He lived at Bradbourne (near East Malling), Kent, England.
In 1701 he married (by licence) Ann Musters, daughter of John Musters and Millicent Mundy. They had children:
In 1703, upon the death of his father, he succeeded as 3rd Baronet Twisden of Bradbourne (est. 1666 in the Baronetage of England). The title gave him the equivalent status of a knight. His wife became Ann, Lady Bradbourne.
He was Member of Parliament for Kent between 1722 and 1727.
He passed away in 1728. His widow passed away in 1729.
