Obituary
Cedric Owen Tingley passed away peacefully at home in Orchard Park, NY on March 13, 2017, six days shy of his 100th birthday.
Cedric was proceeded in death by his wife of 60 years, Carolyn Schuster Tingley of Cranston, Rhode Island.
Cedric is survived by their six adult children, Denise and Don Massey, Greg and Patty Tingley, Jeff and and Joanne Tingley, Marcy and Jim Raborn, Daryl and Jeff Luthy and Brad Tingley. Cedric is also survived by his 13 grandchildren, Kristi Clifton, Rodney Massey, Kylee Rainville, Lacey Roache, Jody Dowdy, Whitney Jacobi, Rick Tingley, Kimmer Witt, Jef Tingley, Lee Mitchell, Kasey Kasten, Steven Luthy and Scott Luthy, 11 great-grandchildren, Madison, Morgan, Cannon, Ebin, Ashlin, Austin, Devin, Rylin, Robert, Reata and Jacquie and two great-great-grandchildren, Tyler and Cadence. In addition, Cedric is also survived by his wife of ten years, Mary Bouchert Tingley of Orchard Park, New York and her four adult children, Clark Nicklas, Beth Nicklas, John Nicklas, and Nancy and Joseph Enis, along with her six grandchildren, David Nicklas, Steven Nicklas, Alex Ribner, Lauren Ribner, Ozzie Enis and Talulah Enis and five great-grandchildren, Addison, Riley, Nathaniel, Amelia, and Henry.
Ced was born on March 19, 1917 in Littleton, Maine the third of Roscoe and Mary Tingley's five sons. Cedric was a First Lieutenant in the United States Army Air Corps during World War II, training pilots on the B-25 Mitchell Bomber. A machinist by trade, he moved his family to Albuquerque, New Mexico in 1950 where he worked for ACF until its closure. Cedric then worked for General Electric where he retired as a foreman in 1982. For the next fifteen years, Ced worked part-time at Massey Auto, continuing to spend his summers at the "Annex", his summer home in the Village of Waterford, Maine.
In 2006, he married Mary Nicklas Bouchert and relocated to her home in the beautiful town of Orchard Park, New York. Throughout Ced's long life, he was devoted to and loved his family, cherished his friends, and enjoyed his favorite pastimes. Ced loved dirt bike riding and rode regularly well into his 80s. An avid pool player, he took great pleasure in playing pool with his sons, other family members, and buddies at the senior citizen center.
Ced was a man of solid faith and strong convictions. He was a longtime member of First Congregational Church in Albuquerque and attended Orchard Park Presbyterian Church. Ced always believed in giving back and regularly contributed to several charitable organizations. A humble man of integrity, Ced gave generously of his wisdom, wit, laughter and love. Ced will be missed by all whose path he crossed.
Cedric will be interred with military honors at the Santa Fé National Cemetery.
