Biography

Mary Colclough was born about 1600. She was the daughter of Sir Thomas Colclough of Tintern Abbey, County Wexford, and Lady Martha Loftus.

Mary married Sir Nicholas Walsh (1590-1643) of Ballycarrigmore, Co.Wexford; son of Sir Nicholas Walsh of Waterford, Judge.

  1. Thomas Walsh (1624–1670), remained at Clonmore until the 1640s: m. Eleanor, daughter of John de la Poer or Power, 5th Baron Power of Curraghmore and his wife Ruth Pyphoe, and sister of Richard Power, 1st Earl of Tyrone

  1. Not to be confused with his father, the well-known judge Sir Nicholas Walsh (1542-1615) who married Mary Colclough's paternal aunt Jacquet Colclough as his 2nd wife. Jacquet was therefore the stepmother of Sir Nicholas Jr., whose mother was Catherine Comerford (Sir Nicholas Sr's first wife).
