G. Walker Cotter was born about April 1884 based on the 1900 United States Census. The exact date may have been 29 April since that is what is reported in online family trees but no source has been located to support that date. He was the son of William Columbus Cotter (abt.1850-1918) and Beatrice "Nicie" (Snellgrove) Cotter (1851-1929).
He was enumerated in the household of his parents on the 1900 United States Census.[1]
He and Effie Simmons were married on 12 January 1907 in Dale County, Alabama. Minister of the Gospel C. G. Pope performed the ceremony.[2] They were the parents of at least one child, Lillie Pearl (Cotter) Bess.
He passed away about 1909. He was about 24 years old. His Alabama Death record indexed at FamilySearch stated he was born in 1888 and 21 years old at his death, but either the original record or the indexed record transcribed it were possibly in error.[3] He was buried in Ebenezer Cemetery, Dale County, Alabama.[4]
