Biography
Hiram Staples was born on 10 April 1775 in Kittery, Maine. His parents were Robert Staples and Elizabeth (Kennard) Staples[1].
He married Catherine McArthur on 28 November 1799 in Limington, Maine[2]. They had eight children[3]:
- 1. John McArthur, born 13 Nov 1800; married Anna Libby
- 2. Statira, born 24 Dec 1801
- 3. Elizabeth, born 12 Apr 1804; married Nathaniel Libby
- 4. Jane Harrison, born 15 Feb 1806
- 5. Mary McArthur, born 14 Sep 1808
- 6. Catherine, born 6 Nov 1810; married 1st Nathaniel Libby, 2nd Benjamin Moody
- 7. Hiram, born 30 Nov 1814; married Nancy Weeks
- 8. Harriet, born 6 Aug 1817; married Frances Towne
Hiram passed away on 10 June 1840 in Limington[4] and is buried in Staples Cemetery[5].
