Biography
John McArthur Staples was born on 13 November 1800 in Limington, Maine. His parents were Hiram Staples and Catherine (McArthur) Staples[1].
He married Anna Libby on 9 December 1824 in Limington[2]. They had eight children[3]:
- 1. Elizabeth Dame, born 11 Apr 1825; married George Meserve
- 2. Meserve Libby, born 26 Jan 1828; died young
- 3. Marcellus, born 21 Jul 1831; died 1844
- 4. Statira, born 4 Aug 1834; married George Washington Pillsbury
- 5. Charles Austin, born 31 Jul 1836
- 6. Elbridge Burleigh, born 6 Apr 1841
- 7. Marcus Mortimer, born 18 Jan 1846
- 8. Hiram Coffin, born 18 Mar 1850
John passed away on 1 July 1886 in Limerick, Maine[4].
