On this 26 day of March A. D. one thousand eight hundred and eighty seven, personally appeared before me, Jesse G. Moore, the same being a court record within and for the County and State aforesaid, Suffy Jones, aged 72 years, who being duly sworn according to law, declared that she is the widow of Edmund Jones, deceased, who was the identical person who served under the name of Edmund Jones as a soldier in the Company commanded by Captain Munroe Savage, in the third Regiment of Tenn. Vols., commanded by B. F. Cheatum in the war with Mexico; that her said husband enlisted at Woodbury on or about the 1st day of October, A.D. 1847, and continued in actual service in said war for the term of 9 months and whose service terminated by reason of honorable discharge at Memphis, Tennessee, on the 22nd day of July, A.D.,1848. She farther states that the following is a full description of her said husband at the time of his enlistment, viz: (can't read), and about 5 foot 10 inches. She farther states that she was married to Edmund Jones at the City of (blank), in the County of Cannon, and the State of Tennessee, on the 10th of October A. D. 1831, by one Elis Baily, who was a Justice, and that her name before her said marriage was Suffy Morgan, and that she has not remarried since the death of said Edmund Jones; and farther stated that Edmund Jones was never married but the one time, and that her said husband died in Cannon County, State of Tennessee, on the 25th day of July, A.D. 1872, and she further declares that the following have been the places of residence of herself and her said husband since the date of his discharge from the Army, viz: lived in Cannon County ever since the date of his discharge. Furthermore, she says that she was born in the County of Cannon, in the State of Tennessee, on or about the 6th day of October 1815, and that she is at this time 72 years of age.

In another widow's brief it stated that Claiment was born Oct 6, 1815, and that Edmund enlisted on Sept. 21, 1847 and was discharged on July 22, 1848.
