Biography

Mary Nolan was born in Limerick, Ireland on April 21, 1859.[1] She was the daughter of John Nolan and Anne Frost. Mary entered the Carmelite Monastery at Kilmacud and took the religious name Sr. Mary Magdalene of the Sacred Heart of Jesus, she was the second novice to make her Profession at Kilmacud, which she did on Nov 20th 1883. Later she was known as Mother Magdalene. She died within a month of her ninetieth birthday on March 31, 1949[2] and is buried in the monastery cemetery.
