Biography
Reuben was born in 1849. He was the son of Etienne Malan and Suzanne Bonnet. He is the twin brother of Levi Malan. He immigrated to the United States with his parents and three of his siblings, arriving in New Orleans on 27 April 1859 via the ship ‘’Nicolo Barabino’’ departing Genoa, Italy.
His first wife, Susan Brusch, died, likely in childbirth, after about five years of marriage. He and his second wife, Mary Hightower, were some of the earliest settlers of Brawley, California. He passed away in 1929.
