There is a Wm. Posey in 1840 Hamilton Co., TN, 11001-10001 (https://www.familysearch.org/ark:/61903/1:1:XHYL-5HN). He's in the right age range to be the second-oldest male from the household of Hezekiah Posey in that county in 1830. Hezekiah was in neighboring Bradley Co. in 1840 and 1850. FamilySearch lists a son, Benjamin, for Hezekiah, suggesting that William could've named a son after his brother. Hezekiah was the one in Hall Co., GA in 1820, including a male in the expected age range for William.
FamilySearch shows two possible sets of parents for William, neither father being Hezekiah. I'm flagging this census record since it seems to fit, but it could be a false lead. On the surface, it looks to me like the FamilySearch contributor misapplied this census record to a similar William, and the families of the Williams appear to be tangled together. I'll leave it to you all to check into and sort out.
I am looking for information about his parents and what led him to Scott County. He is as far back as I can trace my direct lineage, but I am certain that his father was William Robert Bruce Posey, aka Bill.
When I get a chance today, I will look and see what information I can add to this profile. If it is an open profile, which if he had passed it probably is, I can add info without being on the trusted list. If not, I'll let you know and will request to be added. There may be several profiles of yours I can help with. My husband is the Grandson of AY Posey. He was raised by William Robert and Lakey Posey and took their last name so it gets a little confusing sometimes which Posey's are which.
