Biography

Birth

Michael Welcome was born at Gloucester, Massachusetts, on 20 Dec 1746, the son of Zaccheus Wilcomb and Alice (Macarty) Welcome,^[1] and he was baptized there the next day.^[2]

Marriage

Michael Welcome married Judith Ball at Gloucester, Massachusetts, on 5 Jun 1770.^[3]

Residences

Michael and Judith Welcome moved to what was then known as Bakerstown Plantation in Cumberland County, Maine (then in Massachusetts). (Bakerstown was incorporated as Poland in 1795, and Minot was separated from Poland in 1802.^[4]) They probably moved there about 1775. Their two oldest children, born in 1772 and 1774, are recorded both at Gloucester^[5] and at Poland, where the rest of their children are also recorded.^[6] In the records of the children's births at Poland, their parents are shown as "Micah Wellcome and his wife Judeth."

About 1822, Michael and Judith Welcome moved to Livermore, Maine, where their son John was living.^[7]

Death

Michael Welcome died at Livermore, Maine, in July 1825.^[2]
