Blind Daniel was born 10 Feb 1763, the son of Daniel Rowley and Jemima Parsons. He was baptized on 27 Mar 1763. At 10 years of age, he became totally blind from a bout of smallpox. As often is the case, the loss of his sight sharpened his other faculties. He was an excellent judge of livestock and land, and also managed his business as a farmer with unusual success. He had a most beautiful wife when he married Sarah Beckwith 7 Aug 1796. They had seven children, the first four born in Canaan, New York:
The family moved to Fabius, New York in 1818, where he was a peddler of horses and leather goods. He passed away in 1849 and was buried in Apulia Cemetery, Fabius, Onondaga, New York.
