Walter was born in 1921. He was the son of Ernest Edward Argus, a railway worker, and his second wife, Margaret Elizabeth Argus (née Olsen).[1][2] Wally served in North Africa and Italy with the second New Zealand Expeditionary Force during WWII. He married Eileen E. Hogan[3] in London in 1946 before his return to New Zealand. Bob Scott was the best man.[4] Wally was an All Black in 1946 and 1947. He was a Christchurch market gardener. He passed away in 2016.
