↑ From "The Fall of the Clan Kavanagh", by James Hughes, The Journal of the Royal Historical and Archaeological Association of Ireland, 4th Series, Vol. 2, No. 2 (1873), p.303:
The line of Borris [Idrone, Co. Carlow] divided into 2 branches, that of Borris and Ballyhale [Co. Kilkenny]. Morgan Kavanagh of Borris, who died 1720, married twice. By his first wife, the daughter of Sir Laurence Esmonde, the House of Borris descends; and by his second wife, the daughter of Harvey Morres, of Castle Morres, comes the Ballyhale family.
↑ Not to be confused with Laurence Esmonde (b.1670). The two Laurences were 1st cousins, and the other Laurence was father of James, 7th Baronet, after the title jumped between 2nd cousins given that the 4th, 5th, and 6th Baronets (sons of Laurence, 3rd Baronet) all died without male issue. The common ancestor of all the baronets was Thomas Esmonde (1600-74), 1st Baronet.
Cokayne's Complete Baronetage (Vol.2, published 1902, pp.255-257), lists all the Baronets Esmond with short biographies:
