She was the daughter of Charles Edwin Hay and Eleanor Dorcas, her father, Charles, was 35, and her mother, Eleanor, was 28. She married Walter Robert Dewar on December 24, 1936, in Fredericton, New Brunswick, Canada. They had two children during their marriage. She died on November 13, 1989, at the age of 83, and was buried in Blue Hill Cemetery, Braintree, Norfolk County, Massachusetts, USA, .^{[1] [2]}
