Sterman was the son of John Henry Jackson and Mary Catherine (Killough) Jackson. He was the first of four of their children struck down with Typhoid Fever. Three more would pass on by Feb. 21, 1927.
The following is an obituary published at the time of his death:
"Sterman Wesley Jackson was born February 3, 1914, died November 6, 1926, age twelve years, nine months, and three days.
After an illness of sixteen days of typhoid fever, our Lord saw best to call our loved one home.
He leaves to mourn his death a father, mother, three brothers, Troy, Clarence and Thomas, four sisters, Mrs. Noah Satterfield, Mrs. Otis Tipton, Hazel and Juanita Jackson, and all were present during his sickness.
By the grace of God we will meet our brother where there is no sickness, pain or death. May God bless and keep his father, mother, sisters and brother and may they live to meet him.
Hands that toiled now are folded, The voice we loved to hear is stilled; and the form of our dear brother sweetly sleeps on yonder hill.
Yes, we say the form of brother; for the spirit is with his God; and has joined the blood washed number around the throne were Angels trod. -- A Sister."
