Michael was born in 1767 and was baptized on 12 April 1767.[1] He was only four years old when his father died.[2] In 1789 he was confirmed.[3]
In 1791 while working as a servant at Lia, Michael got an illegitimate daugther with Berit Einarsdatter who was working the same place.
He used Lavoll from 1795.[4] In 1801[5] he lived with his wife and daughter at Laugvold (Lavoll) in Mefjord. He made a living of fishing and a little farming. His mother, Barbro, aged 70, was living with them. Kristen, Michael's older brother, was not married, and he lived with them and assisted as a servant. A foster child from Bergen, Paul Andersen, was also living with them.
In 1816 Michael paid 2 marks and 12 skilling in the 1816 silvertax.[6]
Michael passed away in 1826.[4]
The death year and burial of Michael has not been confirmed by primary sources. According to the 1801 Census [5], Michael was married to Karen but the marriage has not been found in the church book.
