Charles Turner was born on June 8, 1789 in Pembroke, Plymouth County, Massachusetts. [1] He was the eldest son of Dr. Charles Turner and Ruth Thomas Turner.
In the 1800 U. S. Census [2] the family was enumerated in Pembroke. Charles was listed in the 10 to 15 year old age category. He had one younger brother who was under ten.
His father died on August 9, 1804 [3] when he was only about fifteen years old. His great-uncle, George Turner, was one of the administrators of his father's estate. He had been suggested to the Probate by Charles' mother, Ruth, on September 3, 1804. [4]
His great uncle, George Turner, signed a will on December 21, 1804 mentioning Charles and his younger brother, John. I give and bequeath to Charles Turner & John Turner the children of Charles Turner late of Pembroke, deceased, the sum of fifteen hundred dollars to be equally divided between them. [5] His uncle died soon after the will was written.
Charles signed a will in Pembroke on February 18, 1812 [6] that left to his brother John Phillips Turner, all my lands, tenements & hereditaments situated in Pembroke aforesaid & in Marshfield in said county or wheresoever the same may be situated at my decease and all the rest, residue & remainder of my personal estate goods & chattels of whatever kind & nature soever I give to my said brother John Phillip Turner whom I hereby appoint sole Executor of my Last Will & Testament. The will mentioned his mother Ruth Turner one dollar.
His mother, Ruth, had published an intention to marry Jabez Morse on February 11, 1812. [7] This may have caused tension in the family. Ruth remarried on March 1, 1812 in Pembroke. [8] Charles died on March 7, 1812 in Pembroke.[9]
The estate of Dr. Charles Turner was not settled until November of 1812 - after the death of his son. A probate record dated November 20, 1812 which directed..

T. Thomas J Prob [10]
I have not found a reason that so many members, even younger members, died in a fairly short time.
The effect was that John Phillips Turner inherited his share of the estate of his father (Dr. Charles Turner) and his brother's (Charles Turner) share of said estate.
