Biography

William was born about 1855. He is the son of Robert Cheatley and Margaret Cheatley.

William married in 1897 to Mary Neely at the 1st Presbyterian Church, Letterkenny. Both were of Full Age and their marriage was witnessed by George Neely and Bella Gordon. [1]

William and Mary moved to Scotland living in Partick, Lanarkshire with his brother in law Robert Neely Neely-1570.

William Cheatley was employed as Subway Car Conductor in Partick in 1899. [2]

They lived in Carnatreantagh in the district of Templedouglas with their 2 children, George born 1899 [3] and daughter Mary born 1905. Son George was born in Scotland, his birth registered at Partick. 1

William and Mary had spent a few years in Scotland with Robert Neely at 180 Castlebank Street, Partick, Lanarkshire. William was employed as a Shipyard Labourer. Robert Neely just 23 was employed as an Assistant Grocer. William and Mary returned to Ireland before 1905 the year their daughter Mary was born. They settled in Templedouglas where William worked as a Farmer.

William Cheatley was 71 when he died in 1927. His death was registered in Letterkenny. His daughter Minnie was the informant of his death.[4]
