No record has been found of the birth of Ruth Hayward (or Howard), and her parents are unknown. Based on her age of 63 years, 8 months, as shown on her gravestone at her death in November 1828, she was born about March 1765.^[1] She was a resident of Braintree, Massachusetts, at the time of her first marriage.^[2]
