Mary Fowler Austin was born in South Norwalk, Fairfield, Connecticut on August 29, 1866. She was the daughter of Lemuel Augustus Austin and Ellen Ann Post.
In 1870, Mary lived with her parents and siblings in Norwalk, Fairfield, Connecticut and in 1880 the family resided in New Haven, New Haven, Connecticut.[1][2]
In 1895 and 1900, she resided with her husband and children in Milltown, Middlesex, New Jersey.[6][7] Following her husband's death in 1902, in April 1903 she moved back with her children to New Haven, where she lived in 1910 and 1920.[8][9] In 1930 she was living with her daughter Marie and family in Hamden, New Haven, Connecticut.[10] In the 1940s, she appears in various annual New Haven directories. In 1950, she was living with her widowed daughter Marie Biever in Hamden, New Haven, Connecticut.[11]
Mary reached 90 years of age and died in Bethpage, Nassau, New York, on April 18, 1957.[12][13] She was buried at Van Liew Cemetery in New Brunswick, Middlesex, New Jersey.[14]
