Biography

Zepther "Jeptha" C Murch was born on August 26, 1806 in Unity, Waldo, Maine. He is a son of Simeon Murch and Rachel Paine.[1]

Jeptha and his wife Margarette Cruson lived in Jonesville, Hillsdale, Michigan from 1850 through until his death.[2][3][4] He was a painter.[5] They had many children together:

  1. Rachel E- b. 1835
  2. Emily A- b. 1837 - 14 Jan 1923[6] m. Henry Reeves
  3. Albert S- b. 1839
  4. Elizabeth
  5. Albion R P- b. 1846
  6. Cora- b. 1848

He served in the Civil War from 1861 to 1865 for Maine.[7] Jeptha served for Maine in the 17th Regiment, Maine Infantry, Co G as a Sharp Shooter.[8][9]

Jeptha died of "sequence of paralysis" on November 23, 1887 in Jonesville, Hillsdale, Michigan.[10][11]
