Robert Todd was killed in the Locomotive 704 Boiler Explosion on 18 March 1912

Robert Todd is a part of US Black heritage.


Robert was born in La Vernia, Texas, the son of Albert Todd (born in Russellville, Kentucky) and Annie Stevenson (born in La Vernia, Texas).[1]

1900 - living with Malvina in La Vernia, Wilson County. Age 23; farmer. Father born in Kentucky, mother born in Texas.[2]

1910 - Robert was living in San Antonio with his wife Malvena and their three children. Age 30; married 10 years; father born Kentucky, mother born Texas; occupation railroad inspector.[3]

Robert was one of the victims of the explosion of Southern Pacific Locomotive Engine 704. The newspaper article reporting his death lists his occupation as "helper."[4] He is buried in City Cemetery #3 in San Antonio.[5]

The railroad paid his widow a settlement of $4000.[6]
