Biography
Charles Warren was born in Middlesex, England.
Charles is the third son of the Reverend Dawson W. Warren and Charlotte Lucy Jackson, baptised at Edmonton, Middlesex on 1st November 1808[1].
Charles was educated at Hammersmith School, and at Trinity College, Cambridge, where he matriculated in 1827. He was admitted to the Degree of Bachelor of Arts in 1831, and Master of Arts in 1834, and was the College Librarian from 1837-1840[2]. Charles was a Cambridge rowing blue and was a crew member in the inaugural Boat Race between Cambridge and Oxford Universities[3].
Charles was ordained as a deacon in Peterborough, Cambridgeshire in 1832, and a priest in 1833. He was the Curate at Burton-Latimer, Northamptonshire from 1832-1834, at Edmonton, Middlesex from 1834-1835, and the Perpetual Curate at St James, Enfield Highway, Middlesex from 1835-1840[4]. Following his marriage to Mary Warren in 1840[5] Charles took up his appointment as the Vicar of Over, Cambridgeshire, where the couple's four children were born. He remained in this position until 1873.
