Biography

• Twin brother of Roy Carey. Their birth records, however, state that Lorne was born on 16 Nov 1884 and Roy was born on 6 Nov 1884. Assuming that there was a clerical error and that the dates would be the same, a birth Certificate of Lorne's issued in 1953 indicates his birth date as 16 Nov 1884.
• Lorne grew up in a musical family. His father, Talbert was the choir master of the Carlisle Church and Roy and Lorne both sang in the choir.
• Roy and Lorne would also perform as entertainers in the surrounding area, singing, playing aluminum chimes as well as bells. They also sang as a quartet with their parents.
• Roy and Lorne would also perform in musicals.
• In 15 Oct 1918 Lorne married Pearl Aird Straus
• Around 1943, Lorne either loaned or gave his niece, Flora, money to buy a house in Hamilton, ON so that she could teach her music from home. Flora's mother died a few days after she was born and her father was killed in a car accident in 1918 when she was 4 years old. Flora then married Earl Moore in 1935 and a few days after their daughter Earlene was born in 1938, Earl died from appendicitis. Therefore the reasoning behind Lorne's kind gesture to his niece.
