Biography

Rhoda was born about 1781.

Her first husband was John Winchell. He died in about 1818. She married Charles Vincent between 1828 (death of Polly, his first wife) and 1830 (census). It was the second marriage for both of them. They did not have any children together.

She appears on numerous land transactions with her husband Charles.

On the 1850 census of Pomfret, Chautauqua, New York, she is 67 years old (=1782-3), born in Massachusetts, living with her husband Charles Vincent.^[1]

Rhoda died on 18 Sept 1873 in New Woodstock, Madison Co., NY. Her age given on her tombstone is 97 years, which is probably a bit inflated. Based on census records and her early life with John Winchell, she was probably born in about 1781 (age 92 years at death). She is buried in New Woodstock Cemetery, Cazenovia, Madison Co., NY.
