Shakespeare Hart was born in Warwickshire, England.

Shakespeare Hart was the son of George Hart of Stratford-upon-Avon, Warwickshire, and his wife Esther Ludiate. He was baptised on 18 November 1666 at Holy Trinity, Stratford.[1]

He was a glazier.[2]

He married Anne Pare on 10 April 1694 at Holy Trinity, Stratford.[3] They had two sons and two daughters baptised at Holy Trinity, Stratford:

  1. William (Shakespeare), baptised 14 September 1695 ("William filius Shakespar Hartt")
  2. Ann, baptised 9 August 1700 ("Ann filia Shakspear and Ann Hartte")
  3. Katherine, baptised 19 July 1703 ("Katheren filia Shakspear and Ann Hartte")
  4. Thomas, baptised 15 June 1711 ("Thomas the sonn of Shakespar Hartt")

On 2 April 1694, his father signed a deed giving him the buildings in Henley Street, Stratford, now known as Shakespeare's Birthplace, including the Maidenhead Inn and three cottages.[4]

Shakespeare Hart left a will dated 23 February 1744 under which he gave his sons Shakespeare and Thomas one shilling each. He gave his wife Ann his seven tenements in Henley Street and the residue of his personal property.[2]

His will was proved in the Peculiar Court of Stratford on 19 October 1747.[2]
