Biography

Anna Catherine was born in 1802 according to the baptism records of Zion Lutheran Church, Lunenburg. Don Shankle's transcriptions show only one date and this usually indicated the date of the baptism, in this case September 12, 1802, and the entry then likely did not record the actual date of birth which was probably not long before baptism.[1] She was the daughter of Nicholas Wentzell and Susanna Catharina Rothenhauser.

Catherine Wentzell (daughter of Nicholas son of Conrad) married George Dauphinee (son of George) on 31 May 1824.[2][3] They appear to have lived in the Lunenburg area at the birth of their first child which was baptized in the records of St. John's Anglican Church in Lunenburg but then must have moved to the Chester area as the remaining children were all baptized in the records of St. Stephen's Anglican Church in Chester.

Her date of death is unknown. She is believed to be buried in St. Stephen's Anglican Cemetery, Chester NS but there is no stone to confirm.[4]

They have the following children in the parish registers;

  • Mary Ann - 1825-05-08
  • John Louis - 1826-10-22
  • Stephen - 1828-05-25
  • Isaiah - 1829-09-20
  • Catherine Elizabeth - 1831-02-20
  • Isaiah - 1832-04-19
  • Anna - 1834-10-05
  • Rachel - 1836-04-01
  • George Caleb - 1837-09-17
  • Elkanah - 1839-06-15
  • George Justus - 1841-07-18
  • Sophia Elizabeth - 1842-12-24
