Fara was probably the son of Chrodoald, a member of the Agilofing dynasty although his place in that dynasty is not known for sure. [1] [2] and his birth date is unknown but it could be anytime in the period 586-611.[1] Chrodoald was married to a daughter of Sigebert I, King of Austrasia before 609, perhaps named Chlodesindis, but it's not known if she was the mother of Fara, [2] and
Fara's father was a noble at the court of King Sigebert I but was killed in 624. Fara also served the Austrasian court, and was designated as Dux, but with his ally Radulf, Duke of Thuringia he rebelled against the Austrasian regent Ansegisel for King Sigebert III, but was killed in the campaign in 641.[1]
As the Wikipedia article states, there are very few primary sources that mention Fara and much of how understanding of his life is controversial. He is sometime referred to as Duke of Bavaria, as were many of the Agilofing dynasty, but this is considered unlikely.[1]
