Biography

Charles was born about 1837. He was the son of William Covell and Lovicy Harnden. ^{[1] [2]}

He is said to have been an 1860 graduate of Columbia University, to have served as a surgeon in the US Navy during the Civil War, and to have died of dysentery on 08 Aug 1861 aboard the USS Colorado off the coast of Fort Pickens, South Carolina; ^{[3] [4]} but no primary sources have been found to confirm this.
