Biography

Ellen was born Ellen H. Oliver on the 5th of October, 1907 in New York. She was the daughter and eldest child of Charles and Helen Oliver. The 1910 Census lists her as living in Buffalo with her parents and younger brother.^[1]

She married William Thomas Grear on the 5th of November in Buffalo, and they remained married together until his death. They had four children together.

The 1930 census lists her as living with her husband, her eldest son and eldest daughter as well as her nephew-in-law in Buffalo.^[2] She was living with all of her children and husband in the same city while working as a sales lady in a department store by 1940.^[3] By 1950, Ellen had become a manager at a restaurant and was living with three of her children in Buffalo, New York. She had divorced William by this point. ^[4]

She worked as a bus driver at least late in life, it is unknown how long she worked as one.

Ellen died the 22 of March 1991 in Clarence, New York.^[5] Her burial location is currently not known by Brendon Barr.

Ellen was remembered as a determined and stubborn woman.
