Biography

Amanda was born on 17 August 1850 in North Carolina. She was the daughter of John J. Allen.[1]

In the 1860 census Amanda (age 9) was living in District 9, Monroe, Tennessee, United States.[1]

When Amanda was 18 she married David Nuel Dilbeck on 10 August 1869 in McMinn, Tennessee, USA. The couple had 11 children: Lydia Lee Dilbeck, Dovie Mason Dilbeck, Jasper Bailus Dilbeck, Lillie Myerlin Dilbeck, Lela Marion Dilbeck, Julius Mortamore Dilbeck, John Louis Dilbeck, Gusta N Dilbeck., Lula May Dilbeck, William Wesley Davenport Dilbeck and Emily Elizabeth Dilbeck.[2]

When Amanda was 18 she married on 10 August 1869 in Source: Details: Pg.49[3][4]

In the 1870 census Amanda (age 19) was living in District 6, McMinn, Tennessee, United States.[5]

In the 1880 census Amanda (age 29) was living in Shoal Creek, Cherokee, North Carolina, United States.[6]

In the 1900 census Amanda (age 49) was living in Justice Precinct 1 (south of S.S.&S.r.r. & east of public rd.), Collin, Texas. Marital Status: Married; Relation to Head of House: Wife.[7]

In the 1910 census Amanda (age 59) was living in Council Grove, Oklahoma, Oklahoma.[8]

In the 1920 census Amanda (age 69) was living in Noble, Cleveland, Oklahoma. Marital Status: Married; Relationship: Wife.[9]

Amanda died at the age of 86 on 26 December 1936 in Noble, Cleveland Co., Oklahoma.[10]

Amanda was buried on 27 December 1936 in IOOF Cemetery, Noble, Cleveland Co., Oklahoma.[11]

Research Notes

Stacy, granddaughters; Death Certificate; tombstone. Death Certificate says she died of "old age", a widow who was 86Y,4M,9D old. Gives her date of birth as 17 Aug. 1850. Said she was a housewife and was born in Tennessee. Her father was John Allen and her mother's maiden name was Cantrell; both were born in Tennessee. The informant was Wm. Emerson Riggs, a son-in-law, of Noble, Oklahoma. Information from Grace Dilbeck Montgomery, her granddaughter: "Mandy was a very small, Indian-looking woman. She was very active and a hard worker. She also liked to dip snuff." BURIAL: IOOF Cemetery, Noble, Cleveland County, Oklahoma.
