Note N321Edith and Durward were married in the living room of the Montgomery farmhouse. Marriage to Howard Sloan in 1976, Certificate # 004104, issued in Johnson County, Texas. Beginning with cataract surgery in her late 60's or early 70's, Edith eventually lost sight in both eyes in spite of several cornea transplants. Following is response from Wallar Overton after I sent Edith's obituary to him to give to any remaining people at Paint Creek who would remember the Livengoods: Heck Carlos, I 'll just send it to all and appreciate your Email. Mom, when teaching at Post School, once said that one cold, snowy morning, Edie arrived to school frozen on a horse and to the reins and had no response to anything going on. Mom, an unqualified nurse, knew not to thaw her quickly, so she had the older boys dismount her and they somehow removed the reins from her hands and rubbed her viciously with snow. God is good.
