Biography

John was the second son of Vere Hunt and Anne, daughter of Edmond Browne.

He matriculated at Trinity College Dublin on 21st November 1782 aged 17.[1]

John married firstly Jane Henn in 1787.[2][3] They had a son Vere who was referred to as the "eldest son" in 1834,[4] he was born c1793.[5] There is William son of John who matriculated at Trinity College Dublin on 1st December 1806 aged 16 who may have been a son too.[1]

He married secondly Frances Evans in 1798.[3] They had:

  • Grace, born 1803[6] died unmarried in 1873[7]
  • George Evans, baptised at Askeaton on 26th February 1804,[8] died 1863
  • Catherine Frances, youngest daughter, married Edmond Hunt in 1838,[9][7] she died a widow in 1874[10].

John had children with both wives, children with unknown mothers include:

  • John, died 1824[11]
  • Bridget Louisa, eldest daughter married William Griffin in 1830, [12] she died in 1859[13]
  • Eliza, died 1839[14].

He died at Askeaton in 1845 in his 80th year.[15] Frances had died in 1825.[6]
