Wesley was born in 1823. He was the son of Richard Vick and Mary Hinton.
He married Elizabeth Jane Guthrie. They were the parents of ten children:

- Georgia Annie,
- Oren Richard,
- Jefferson Davis,
- Sarah,
- John Wesley and
- Carrie.
He passed away in 1896.
